LOTTE Advanced Materials has announced that its EF (Emotional Feeling) grades were selected as the Winner in the Material Category at the 2018 Red Dot Design Award* on June 27, 2018.

* Red Dot Design Award is deemed one of the world's most trusted design competitions. Currently, it is recognized as one of the top three design awards in the world, along with iF Design Award in Germany and IDEA in the US. In 2018, Red Dot Design Award attracted a total of 5,640 entries from 55 countries. Only 5% of all entries get selected as the Winners.

Emotional Feeling Material: Sustainable Material

Emotional Feeling, or EF, material offers new design possibilities to the customer, featuring the optimal combinations of colors and patterns tailored for plastic applications.
EF grades, in particular, garnered international recognition in terms of design quality, functionality and innovation in 2015 when the materials won the awards in the Professional Concept Category at iF Design Award. By winning another prestigious recognition at Red Dot Design Award this year, EF material has demonstrated its top-notch quality.

Unique Design Features

  • Various textures such as fabric, woolen fabric, cement, ceramics, wood, marble can be expressed through patterns.
  • Thanks to greater design freedom, EF grades can be applied to various products in different sizes and shapes.
Value-added Material
In addition to the advantages in design mentioned above, EF grades offer several benefits particularly geared toward the customer.
  • Eco-friendly solution that helps save cost: Applicable to PCM material through paint-free injection molding method.
  • Material in harmony with surrounding environment: Applicable to a wide range of products such as home appliances and IoT devices.

LOTTE Advanced Materials has no plan to slow down its forward charge as far as its three-year award winning streak at Red Dot Design Award is concerned.

In 2016, the company won the Best of the Best in the Interaction Category with its Lighting Reactive material, which creates different colors depending on LED lighting. In 2017, it grabbed another Best of the Best in the Material Category by rolling out a metal adhesive plastic PBT/GF material, which comes with a high level of metal adhesion, elegant low-gloss surface treatment and diverse color options.

The Best of Best awards are given to just 1% of all entries. Separately, LOTTE Advanced Materials also won three Winner awards*.

* 2016: Skin Category - starex® Luminous XM

2017: Material Category - Color Blending Effect in Plastics, A Modular Texture Guide for Plastics
At UX Design Awards 2018 held in Germany in May, LOTTE Advanced Materials also received the “Nominated” award with its transparent material featuring sophisticated design.

That LOTTE has already won two international design awards this year suggests that its stature as a leading provider of top-quality materials has been significantly elevated on the global market.

LOTTE Advanced Materials plans to keep exploring new design possibilities of plastics by putting together what it has learned from major design competitions and its continued endeavor in R&D.
